Nick Shamie, MD is Chief of Orthopaedic Spine Surgery at the UCLA Comprehensive Spine Center. He is also Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Neurosurgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and an Expert Reviewer for the Medical Board of CA. Dr. Shamie is a former Chief of Spine Service at the Wadsworth Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles, CA. He is an Elected Board Member, Executive Medical Board (EMB) of SM/UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital Board of Directors member of the American College of Spine Surgery and was President of the American College of Spine Surgery. Dr. Shamies scientific research, grant and clinical trial activities have been well recognized. He is a recipient of the UCI School of Medicine Award for Excellence in Research. Dr. Shamie is actively involved in both Basic Science and Clinical research in the field of Spine Surgery. He is highly requested to present lectures nationally and internationally. He has also been highly published in peer review journals, invited manuscripts, book chapters and co-authored a text book entitled, The Encyclopedia of the Back and Spine Systems and Disorders. Dr. Shamie has been on Fox Television, CBS News, ABC News, KUSI News, The Doctors, PBS, and has been featured in CNN Health. He was ranked among the top 10 academic spine surgeons in the US.
