Manuel was born in Guadalajara, Mexico but spent his formative years in San Diego--a proud UCSD Triton. He is a David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) alumnus and completed his residency training in emergency medicine at Harbor-UCLA. He is the Assistant Chief of Emergency Medicine at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine at DGSOM.
Manuel is dedicated to improving undergraduate medical education, specifically helping students transition from the pre-clinical to clinical years of medicine. He is a former Educator for Excellence and continues to mentor students interested in emergency medicine. His other interests include addiction, emergency cardiology, and infectious diseases.
