Tannaz Moin, M.D., M.B.A., M.S.H.S.

A Short Biography:

Dr. Moin received her BS and dual MD/MBA degrees from the University of California, Irvine. After her Internal Medicine residency training and chief residency year at Yale, she completed fellowship training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UCLA. Dr. Moin also completed a VA Health Services Research Fellowship with a Master of Science in Health Services Research from the Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA. Currently, Dr. Moin is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and General Internal Medicine & Health Services Research at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is also a Core Investigator at the VAGreater Los Angeles HSR&D Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy and serves as an Assistant Director for the Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) Program at UCLA.

Dr. Moin’s areas of expertise include comparative effectiveness research, pragmatic trials, and implementation science. She is an investigator on several federally funded research studies focusing on the implementation and evaluation of health system- and health insurance-partnered interventions for patients with diabetes, prediabetes and/or obesity across a variety of settings. Dr. Moin is a principal investigator on the VA Quality Enhancement Research Initiative (QUERI) EMPOWER program focused on the implementation of innovative care models in VA, in order to improve women Veteran’s engagement and retention in evidence-based care for mental health, prediabetes, and cardiovascular risk reduction. She is also a member of a multicenter research network Natural Experiments in Translation for Diabetes, which is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Disease (NIDDK), and the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
