Tannaz Moin, M.D., M.B.A., M.S.H.S.

A Short Biography:

Dr. Moin obtained her dual MD/MBA from the University of California, Irvine and completed Internal Medicine residency training and chief residency at Yale. She then completed a clinical fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at UCLA followed by a research fellowship in VA Health Services Research, during which she also completed a Master of Science in Health Services (MSHS) from the Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health at UCLA. Currently, Dr. Moin is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and General Internal Medicine & Health Services Research at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She is also a Core Investigator at the HSR&D Center for the Study of Healthcare Innovation, Implementation & Policy (CSHIIP) at the VA Greater Los Angeles. She also serves as an Assistant Director for the Specialty Training and Advanced Research (STAR) Program at UCLA and leads the VA/UCLA Research Faculty Network Group.

Dr. Moin's clinical interests include diabetes and prediabetes and her research expertise include pragmatic trials, comparative effectiveness research, and implementation science. She is a principal investigator on several federally funded research studies focusing on the implementation and evaluation of interventions for patients with diabetes, prediabetes and/or obesity across a variety of settings. Her NIH/NIDDK funded studies include the UC DPP Study, which is evaluating a multi-component intervention addressing obesity and diabetes prevention across the UC system, and the GRAND Study, which is a randomized controlled trial testing the effectiveness of shared decision-making for diabetes prevention among women with a history of gestational diabetes across two large health systems. Ongoing VA funded studies include the QUERI EMPOWER 2.0 Program, which is a cluster randomized trial comparing two implementation strategies to expand access to virtual, evidence-based, preventive lifestyle and mental health services for women Veterans from 20 VA sites.
