Cesar Santana-Gomez, M.Sc., Ph.D.

A Short Biography:

Cesar's background is in neuroscience. He obtained his B.S. in Biopharmaceutical Chemist, at the University Autonomous of Zacatecas, Mexico in 2009. He received a M.Sc. (2012) and Ph.D. (2017) degrees in Neuropharmacology, from the department of Pharmacobiology, CINVESTAV, Mexico, in the Luisa Rocha’s laboratory, where he investigated the effects of new drugs on the acute and long-term consequences induced by the Status Epilepticus. During his Ph.D., Dr. Santana-Gomez gets experience in the evaluation of several seizure experimental animal models, stereotaxic surgery, in vivo microdialysis, high resolution liquid chromatography (HPLC), evaluation of electrographic activity, telemetry assays, histological and immunohistochemistry techniques. Dr. Santana-Gomez is Member of the National System of Researchers in Mexico (CONACyT), Society for Neuroscience (SFN) and the American Epilepsy Society (AES). Cesar’s current research with mentor Dr. Ricard Staba at UCLA focuses on finding non-invasive EEG biomarkers that could be used to predict post traumatic epilepsy following lateral fluid percussion injury in a rodent model.
