Anil Bhushan, Ph.D.

A Short Biography:

Anil Bhushan is a cell and developmental biologist and serves on the UCLA School of Medicine faculty in the Department of Medicine. His laboratory is located in the Larry Hillblom Islet Reseach Center in the Division of Endocrinology. Dr Bhushan earned his PhD in Biophysics at University of California, Davis. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute of Biological Studies where he worked on TGF-beta signaling in the specification and patterning of endoderm. He subsequently worked at Institute Curi?? and Hopital Robert Debre in Paris on pancreatic development. His laboratory research focuses on cell cycle regulation and epigenetic changes that regulate the pancreatic beta cells formation, regeneration and function and understanding how beta cells can be derived from stem cells. His research is essential for developing therapeutic strategies to combat diabetes.
