Malcolm Munro, M.D., F.R.C.S.

A Short Biography:

Dr Munro is a gynecologist with interests in the disease states of abnormal uterine bleeding and chronic pelvic pain. A cofounder and current Chair of the FIGO Menstrual Disorders Committee, he also led the development of FIGO's systems - System 1 for Nomenclature of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding (AUB) symptoms, and, System 2 the PALM-COEIN classification of causes of AUB. He also provides help for women with infertility who require surgical interventions to facilitate care by specialists in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. He has expertise in both laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery; most of his hysteroscopic surgery is performed, with comfort, under local anesthesia in his office procedure room. Dr Munro also has an interest in surgical simulation and is currently the Principal Investigator for the AAGL, CREOG and ACOG multicenter, binational construct validation trial for the EMIG systems - gynecologic specific endoscopic simulators for hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery.
