Dr. Platt received his MD from Wayne State University in 1972 and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, MI, in 1976. He then joined the faculty at the University of Southern California as a clinical research fellow in maternal-fetal medicine and advanced through the ranks to become a professor in 1986. Dr. Platt is currently a member of the Clinical Voluntary Faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is in private practice. He has authored over 250 publications, including 3 books and 185 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Platt is on the editorial boards of six medical journals and serves as editor of the international journalÃÂÃÂUltrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. His research interests include prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology, and the biophysical assessment of fetal condition. Honored for his contributions to the fields of medicine and ultrasound, Dr. Platt has received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Wayne State University of Medicine in 1991 and the AIUM's Presidential Recognition Award in 1994. He was also honored in The Best Doctors in America, in 1996. Dr. Platt has been a guest speaker or lecturer at more than 350 educational symposiums and a facilitator of many postgraduate conferences. He is currently the president of the Kenneth Gottesfeld-Charles Hohler Memorial Foundation, a nonprofit organization supporting postgraduate education in ultrasound. He is also treasurer of the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and past president of the Los Angeles Obstetrical and Gynecological Society.
