Doctor. Ferrell is Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Medicine and Division of Geriatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He is Associate Chief for Education in the Division of Geriatrics and Director of the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship Training Program for the VA/UCLA Multicampus Program of Geriatrics and Gerontology. Doctor Ferrell was awarded the David Geffen School Of Medicine's Award for Excellence in Education in 2005. After completing medical school and internal medicine residency at the University of Oklahoma, he trained in Geriatric Medicine at UCLA. He has held a UCLA faculty appointment for more than 16 years. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society. He is a member of the Gerontological Society of America, the American Pain Society, and the International Association for the Study of Pain. Dr. Ferrell's research interest is applied clinical research. He is a recognized national and international leader in the area of persistent pain in older persons. He has conducted studies, authored numerous publications, and was Chair of the American Geriatrics Society's panel for the development of clinical practice guidelines for the management of persistent pain in older persons.
