Dr. Lieberman joined the Dept. of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1991. He has established a national and regional reputation for his expertise related to primary and revision total joint replacement surgery and treatment of osteonecrosis of the hip and knee. He is also interested in developing minimally invasive techniques to enhance surgical outcomes. Dr. Lieberman is a member of the Hip Society and the Association of Arthritic Hip and Knee Surgeons. His research interests include the use of bone morphogenetic proteins to enhance bone repair, gene therapy and outcomes after total joint replacement procedures. He has published more than 80 articles and book chapters. He has been awarded a Physician Scientist Award from the National Institutes of Health and the American Orthopaedic Association ABC Traveling Fellowship.
