Throughout Dr. Christopher Denny’s 33-year career at UCLA, his greatest creative potential has been in forging links between diverse fields. Most of his academic success has come through applying basic molecular biology tools to seek molecular mechanisms for what he witnesses when treating pediatric hematology/oncology patients. Over the last several years, his focus has shifted towards developing strategies and tools that would have a more direct clinical impact. For example, he helped create the electronic medical record system for UCLA Healthcare and continues to play an active role in its development. In 2014, he became board certified in the new specialty of Clinical Informatics. As a program director within UCLA’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute, he developed a voucher system to support and facilitate use of core services across our four campuses. This program proved to be a paradigm shift away from directly subsidizing cores and towards supporting investigator defined projects. For the last year, he has been leading an effort to create a scalable and flexible genomic repository in service of our Precision Health Institute.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
