Dr. Fischel has been a Professor of Pediatrics at UCLA School of Medicine, and the Director of Molecular Hematology and an attending physician at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center from 1988 to 2009. He has published over 120 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, has been a principal investigator of multiple National Institutes of Health (“NIH”) funded research grants, has served repeatedly on internal and external review panels at the NIH, and, in July 2005, was appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services to serve for four years on the Advisory Council of one of the NIH’s institutes.
