Detailed Biography:

Reaction Mechanisms in Molecular Biology Reaction mechanisms in molecular biology are the principal interests of our laboratory. Presently, the design of gene specific inhibitors which are directed to the single-stranded template DNA of open complexes formed between RNA polymerase and promoters, is an important objective. New antiviral agents are one possible practical outcome of this research. We are also developing synthetic chemical proteases and nucleases capable of mapping the conformation of membrane proteins and the binding sites of DNA binding proteins. Cleavage reagents developed from DNA binding proteins will also be used as genome mapping reagents.
