Detailed Biography:

Dr. Lee is Interim Chief of the Glaucoma Division; other Division faculty are Dr. Anne Coleman and Dr. Roy Wilson. Dr. Lee's research activity is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, with particular emphasis on the cell biology, biochemistry, and pharmacology of the ciliary epithelium, trabecular meshwork, and aqueous humor. He is exploring pharmacological agents for their utility in modulating aqueous humor production and drainage. In addition he is studying wound healing following laser and glaucoma filtration surgery. He has developed in vitro and in vivo systems for quantitating ocular fibroblast attachment, migration, proliferation, and collagen synthesis in order to test the usefulness of various drugs and drug delivery systems for preventing scarring at the surgical site and improving success of the procedure. Other research interests include noninvasive ocular drug delivery systems and biostatistical and epidemological studies of glaucoma and other ophthalmological diseases.
