Detailed Biography:

Joy Umbach is a neuroscientist and electrophysiologist who has been an adjunct member of the UCLA School of Medicine faculty in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology since 1994. Dr. Umbach received her B.S. in Zoology from the University of Rhode Island and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from UCLA. She was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Professor Peter F. Baker at King's College London where she worked on calcium homeostasis in neurons. Her current research focuses on molecular mechanisms of synaptic transmission in normal and stem cell derived neurons.
