Our research attempts to clarify the cerebral mechanisms by which memory is acquired, retained and retrieved. We use the monkey's brain as an animal model of the human brain. Our methods include: (a) Memory tasks; (b) Selective and reversible inactivation of cortical areas (by cooling); (c) Microelectrode recording of neuron potentials; (d) Field potential recording; and (e) Computational analysis and modeling of memory networks.
