A Short Biography:

Dr. Bo Wei is an immunologist/microbiologist who joined the faculty at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in 2005. He received his education in China and further enriched his research experience in the United States. He graduated from XiAn JiaoTong University School of Medicine (Xian Medical University) in 1985 and went on to work in the field of Microbiology, Immunology and Vaccinology. He earned M.S. degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the National LanZhou Institute of Biological Products (LIBP) in China in 1993. In 1998, he graduated from the Institute of Viral Disease Control and Prevention at Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine with Ph.D degree in Pathogen Biology. He did postdoctoral researches in the field of Mucosal Immunology and Gastroenterology at the UCLA Department of Pathology and Lab Medicine. He earned the Annual Young IBD Investigator Award from Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of American (CCFA) in 2002, an AAI Junior Faculty Award in 2006 and several fellowship awards. Dr. Wei serves as a co-chair of the UCLA Translational Immunology Seminar Committee. His research activities focus on the host-pathogen interactions and immunoregulation in the intestinal mucosal homeostasis. He is interested in studying the pathophysiological roles of enteric microbiota and mucosal immunity in the status of health and diseases.
