Detailed Biography:

I am the Director of the Computing Technologies Research Lab (CTRL) at the David Geffen School of Medicine. I am also co-investigator in the Biomedical Informatics program of the UCLA Clinical Translational Science Institute, the Informatics director of UCLA involvement in the National Children?s Study, and the leader of the NCI Prostate SPORE informatics group, with representatives from 11 institutions. In addition, I am the original developer of the open source pTracker data collection, reporting and management software system that is used by the Prostate SPOREs and many other projects. I am also the primary architect of the clinical data management system used by the IMPACT prostate cancer program. In addition, my group designed and built the UDA Online system, a generally accessible data reporting system used by Urologic Disease researchers. At UCLA, I am leading efforts to utilize NCI caBIG software tools to facilitate interoperable biorepositories in support of the UCLA CTSI and the Prostate SPORE programs. My programmatic experience and access to informatics tools makes me ideally suited to participate in f BIP.
